Polarizing microscopes
The polarizing microscope is a device used to observe and identify minerals, even small ones, that make up rocks. It is a special microscope equipped with two polarizing filters called a polarizer and an analyzer.
A thin slide containing the rock sample is placed on a rotating stage of the microscope. The polarizer is positioned between the light source and the specimen, and the retractable analyzer is positioned between the objective and the eyepiece. The latter allows you to work in analyzed or unanalyzed polarized light.
Using a polarizing microscope allows you to precisely study how minerals are arranged and determine the order in which they were crystallized. It also allows you to observe how they are arranged according to alignment or plane, and to understand the structure of the rock.
All our microscopes come with a 5-year warranty on mechanical components. A discount is available for purchases of 5 or more devices!
